Common questions

What is WireWrite?

WireWrite is a UK electrical certificate platform for issuing BS 7671 Electrical Installation Certificates (EICs), Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificates and Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs). All certificate templates align with BS 7671:2018+A4:2026 (Amendment 4, effective from 2026).

Do I need to be a Competent Person to use WireWrite UK?

Issuing an EIC for notifiable work in England and Wales falls under Building Regulations Part P, and most firms operate under a Competent Person Scheme (NICEIC, NAPIT, ELECSA, STROMA, Certsure or Blue Flame). WireWrite asks for your scheme registration details during onboarding. You can still draft certificates and use the calculators while unverified, but the Issue button is disabled until your registration is added.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Every new account gets a 30-day free Pro trial with unlimited certificates and your own company branding. After the trial, accounts drop to the Free plan (3 issued certificates per rolling 30-day window with WireWrite branding on the PDF) unless you upgrade to Pro at £5 per month plus VAT.

Can I use WireWrite on my phone?

Yes. wirewrite.co.uk is mobile-first and works as a Progressive Web App (PWA) you can add to your home screen. The full certificate wizard, calculators, dashboard, signature capture and PDF download all work on Android and iPhone browsers.

What certificates can I issue with WireWrite UK?

Three UK certificate types: Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) for new installations and additions; Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate for single-circuit-component replacement without altering the existing circuit; and Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) for periodic inspection. The wizard pre-fills based on the certificate type chosen at Step 1, all aligned to BS 7671:2018+A4:2026.

Are the WireWrite certificates BS 7671 Amendment 4:2026 compliant?

Yes. The EIC template implements BS 7671 Appendix 6 layout with running header, footer and Page N of M numbering on every page; boxes redraw cleanly across page breaks; Test Instruments and Schedule of Inspections are present. The cable sizer, voltage drop and earth fault loop impedance calculators all use the BS 7671 / IET On-Site Guide reference data. See our A4:2026 guide for what's new.
