Profile, Digital Signature & PIN — WireWrite UK
Personal details, signature drawing, 4-digit PIN, and account security
Where to find it
All profile and signature settings live on the Settings page. Changes save automatically or with a save button — no refresh needed.
Updating your details
Your profile details appear on every certificate you issue, so make sure they're accurate and up to date.
Profile fields
- Full name — shown as the certifier on every certificate. Required.
- Email — used for login and account notifications.
- Phone — shown on certificates and used for your business contact details.
- Company name — your trading name (individual users). Company employees use their team's company name automatically.
Scheme registration details
WireWrite uses a self-certify system — you enter your own scheme details and save them. These details are shown on every certificate you issue.
- •Scheme & enrolment number — e.g. NICEIC 654321, NAPIT 12345, ELECSA, STROMA, BESCA, Certsure or ECA. Contractor-level enrolments may be shared across employees at the same firm.
- •Grade / role — Qualified Supervisor, Approved Electrician, JIB Technician, Building Control notification, or other.
- •Enrolment expiry date — WireWrite warns you 90 days before expiry and blocks new certificates once expired.
Your scheme enrolment must be verified before you can issue any certificates. Tick the "verified" box after entering your details. See UK Competent Person Schemes for what NICEIC, NAPIT, ELECSA etc. cover and how Part P self-certification works.
Digital signature setup
Your saved signature is applied to certificates when you sign them with your PIN. You only need to set it up once. It appears in the BS 7671 Appendix 6 certifier signature block on every EIC, Minor Works and EICR.
Draw your signature
- 1
Go to Settings and scroll to the Signature section.
- 2
Use your finger on mobile, or mouse/trackpad on desktop, to draw your signature in the white box.
- 3
Not happy with it? Click Clear and try again.
- 4
Click Save. Your signature is now stored securely and linked to your account.
Upload instead
If you already have a signature image (PNG with a transparent background works best), you can click Upload and select a file. This is useful if you've already set up a signature in another tool or want a more polished look.
Tip: A signature on mobile with your finger often looks cleaner than on desktop with a mouse. If you're not happy with your drawn version, try on your phone.
Signature PIN
Your 4-digit signature PIN is a second layer of security. Every time you sign a certificate, you have to enter this PIN to apply your signature — this prevents anyone who has access to your device from signing certificates as you.
Setting your PIN
- •In the Signature section of Settings, enter a 4-digit PIN in the PIN field.
- •Confirm the PIN in the second field — they must match exactly.
- •Click the eye icon to show/hide the digits as you type.
- •Click Save — your PIN is stored securely and required every time you sign.
Changing your PIN
You can change your PIN at any time from Settings — enter a new 4-digit value in both fields and save. Old certificates are not affected.
Forgot your PIN? Open the support form — we can help you reset it after verifying your identity.
Account security
Two-factor authentication (2FA)
You can enable TOTP-based two-factor authentication in Settings using any authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, etc.). Once enabled, you'll be asked for a 6-digit code every time you log in.
Automatic sign-out
WireWrite automatically signs you out after 15 minutes of inactivity to protect your account on shared or public devices. Just log in again to continue.
Password reset
Forgotten your password? Click Forgot password? on the login screen and we'll email you a 6-digit code (not a clickable link — codes don't get pre-consumed by mail-server URL scanners like Outlook 365 Defender). Codes expire after 24 hours for security.
